The Climb

4:30am, sitting here, I am lost in this picture as I put myself in their shoes. On the bottom of a mountain looking up and all I see is jagged rocks, big boulders (That could drop at anytime), cracks or traps as we like to call them — (Catch your foot or leg in one and potentially break it) get caught in one… it’s a potential setback. I can feel the struggle as their legs are burning. I can hear deep fast breathing as their lungs begin to burn and doubt creeps into their mind. “I don’t know if I can make it.” each one of them is saying.

I am thinking to myself, “It’s times like these when you find out what you are really made of.” Looking up the mountain after every step… it seems as if you are not even moving, it seems like the top is getting farther and farther away. Upon each new plateau you realize there is another summit. All along the way you are thinking, “Why am I doing this. There has to be an easier way.”

As I shut my eyes, a new vision enters my mind. It’s a picture of me: Sitting behind this computer writing to you. Struggling to find new guests for our podcast each and every week. Pushing hard to find new projects for our development company. Innovating new ways to grow EHRConstruction.com so we can help more families make their dreams come true. Helping friends who trust in us to guide them on their real estate journey. Along with countless other details “Rocks”, numerous road blocks and obstacles “Traps” and the long hours from 4:30am — 11pm day in & day out that wear on you.

When I open my eyes, I see these words. A smile comes on my face, An energy pulses through my body, with chills running down my neck, as if to say, “There is no way I am giving up on my mission. My passion & conviction to help others create a “Self-Image” worthy of fighting for; allowing one to achieve their goals and reach their untapped potential. Driven to inspire. To inspire through giving, caring, honesty, loyalty and as a Guardian of good.”

It’s times like these when life is testing you and you are testing yourself.

Doubt creeps in your mind as you enter new lands and territory you are unfamiliar with. But, that’s the fun of it. The journey is what we entrepreneurs live for everyday. A journey among the unknown is what I love. It makes me feel alive, it provides a natural “high” unlike any cup of coffee or rollercoaster ride. The thought of waking up every morning to a cup of coffee, newspaper and nothing to do… Scares the hell out of me. Just ask Sarah 🙂

The future is bright. Our podcast Edina-SWMplsAdviceGivers.com is starting to get traction with over 1,100 downloads in less than 90 days. GroundUp Development in partnership with Exceptional Homes is plugging away on new builds in Edina, SW Minneapolis, Plymouth and Maple Grove. Metropolitan Home Team is continuing to place one block at a time on its new foundation as we create a new culture. A culture true to who we really are NOT what an industry expects us to be.

This journey is and will continue to be hard. The days will continue to be long. Obstacles will always come and go as we overcome them. But, as I sit here now writing to you, I realize, with a smile on my face, I wouldn’t want it any other way.

I’m addicted to the journey and the struggles feed my passion.
